Hill Country, TX
This was our beautiful Kerrville, Texas home for a month.
We spent many an evening "swingin'"along the banks of the Guadalupe River.
This is the Guadalupe River that we gazed upon while enjoying our evening swing.  Nice!
A few storms passed our way, while we were here.  This one looks ready to spawn a tornado!
The sunsets were a sight to behold.
We were able to ride our bikes near the RV resort.
Our bike rides took us through countryside like this.
There seemed to be a treat around every country lane corner.
A swan looking for dinner in a small pool.
Our biking seemed to agitate some locale emus.  There were dozens at this farm.
This fellow appears very interested in our camera.  We didn't venture any closer!
The area around the Hill country has many imported "exotics" [local reference] such as these.
Our drive to Stonehenge II took us through some beautiful rolling hills with many streams like this.
Stonehenge II is located in a farmer's field and is a strange sight indeed.
Al Sheppard's vision to recreate Stonehenge took 9 months to complete.
Somehow Easter Island figured into Sheppard's Stonehenge vision.
Bill said he was looking for ancient relics.
Susan captured this picture of the only other "head".
Our hike in the Lost Maples State Recreation Area started here.
Shortly after starting the hike we came across this little guy.  Check out the gills.
We gained a little elevation along the hike.  This view is looking down towards the visitor's center.
We came across a wonderful little pool area and took the opportunity to rest here for a while.
Just before Easter Sunday, we took in a local BBQ event.  This fellow entertained the kiddies.
Texans take their BBQ very seriously.  These are Hill Country Rednecks (or so the BBQ says).
Some of the BBQ's are the size of a small car.  We sampled some of the yummy fixins.
Bandera is a town in the Hill Country that claims to be the cowboy capital  of the U.S.
I don't know if they are the cowboy capital, but they really put a lot of money into their restrooms.
Cowboy stuff was available in every shop.
The wildflowers were a little sparse in the Hill Country so we came here to see them.
A blue bonnet closeup - yes it looks like a lupin cause it is a lupin.
Here is a field of them. In years with a lot of rain they grow in the wild like this.
Susan captured this red poppy.
A field of larkspur.  The Wildseed Farm had many plantings like this. Quite colorful.
Cactus bloom.
They also had a butterfly house.  The next few show some of the residents.

Is this butterfly house zoned for zebras?
Another dazzling habitant.

This fellow seems to be staring back with multiple eyes.
This is the LBJ Ranch Visitor Center.
One must take the tram to visit the Johnson Ranch.
LBJ's birth-home was located in a beautiful setting.
LBJ is buried here (see the large headstone) along with other family members.
The 1960's Texas Whitehouse was the site for many meetings between LBJ and his cabinet.
The LBJ property has a nice view of the surrounding area.
LBJ's grandfather lived here.
This was a neat old windmill that provided water for his grandparents.
Our hotel was located near the riverwalk.  It is the red brick bldg. behind the tree.
Our room was simple and elegant.
Some of the buildings in the riverwalk area were unique in their design.
This is the riverwalk area.  We ate lunch across the river where the flags are on the second level.
The riverwalk is beautiful and colorful.
Around every corner was another stunning view.
For those flower junkies among us.
Another area in downtown San Antonio is called the Mercado.  It is a shopping mecca for stuff and junk.
A massive mural near the Mercado.
The elegant interior of St. Josephs, built in 1868 by the German settlers.  Is that apparition Saint Susan?
The Alamo.  Lovely grounds & building, and so much to remind one of the blood shed here.
This old oak is a centerpiece in the Alamo grounds.
A large cactus just coming into bloom.
The McNay Art Museum building.  It was undergoing some renovation while we were there.
The grounds at the McNay were very attractive.
Again, another one for you flower junkies.  The water lilies were pretty.
