Southern New Mexico
We updated the suspension on our trailer and it was installed here.
While we waited for the installation to be completed we visited the nearby town of Columbus.
Also, nearby is Pancho Villa State Park.  They had just opened a great, new museum.
They have a very nice RV park at Pancho Villa SP.  We didn't stay here but it looks very inviting.
We headed north to Las Cruces.  This is the plaza in the nearby town of La Mesilla.
Billy the Kid was tried and convicted here, but he was shot before he could be executed.
La Mesilla had many interesting adobe homes and this was one of the nicer ones.
We like doorways and this one made for a nice picture.
This is El Capitan, a massive limestone formation in Guadalupe Nat'l Park.
We took the natural entrance to Carlsbad Caverns where in season nearly a million bats emerge.
This is the Kings Palace formation.
At over 55 million sq. ft in size the Big Room is BIG!!
This is the Caveman formation that is supposed to represent an old bearded man.
The famous Rock of Ages formation.
This is called the Lion's Tail and it not one of the typical formations you typically see.
The "Bashful Elephant" as named by some prominent Republicans (just joking).
With baleen a plenty this is called the Whale's Mouth.  Jonah are you in there??
Called the Papoose Draperies, these are naturally colored by minerals.
Consisting of "cave popcorn" Fairyland appeared be populated by gnomes.
You can dine and buy gifts 750 ft. below the surface.  We did neither and took the elevator up.
Sitting Bull Falls was recommended to us by locals.  In the desert it is indeed a rare sight.
The hike to the top of the falls offered a view back down to the parking area.
We also hiked to Lost Canyon Springs.  In desert terms this area was lush.
Susan was excited to see this spring and after washing up, posed for a picture.
