Byron, NY - Oct. 10 - 16, 2007
On October 10th we started our 3,000-mile migration to our winter nesting grounds in Tucson, Arizona. We're pretty sure most of nature's feathered travelers make their annual migration in much less time than these 'sun' birds.
Our first stop was the Villages at Turning Stone in Verona, New York. We stayed in this park in June and enjoyed it. The primary reason for stopping this time was so Susan could return to a hair stylist she liked in Utica. This may seem rather vain, but finding a good cutter while on the road is not an easy proposition - besides, a little vanity is a good thing. The secondary reason was to assemble and ship a satellite system.
We decided the park was not the same without Fran and Joe, a couple we met there in June - so we moved on to Rochester, New York to visit with Ralph and Jeanne.
We stayed at the very pleasant and friendly Southwood RV Park in Byron, NY for four nights. On Saturday night we joined Ralph and Jeanne for dinner. It was nice to catch up with the current happenings in their lives. Then Monday, Ralph took a day off work and picked us up for a visit to the very beautiful Letchworth State Park . The park is billed as the 'Grand Canyon of the East' with its deep narrow canyon carved by the Genesee River and its cascades and waterfalls. The changing leaves and crisp autumn air added to the beauty of the dramatic landscape. It was a great day.
