Montreal, Canada
Bill and Scott are searching for the right direction. Roelina found it - Camera 1!
Montreal, like many cities, has narrated carriage rides around the old city.
Notre Dame Basilica is a divinely massive building.
On the inside it is pretty impressive too.
Just outside of Notre Dame we found this statue that looks a lot like Scott. Who's your feathered friend Scott?
Old Ville Montreal offers many lovely and historical streets.
We kind of liked the quirkiness of this chair.
Scott and Susan confer on the best route. Scott had it all figured out, which made it easy for the rest of us.
Scott and Roelina looking like consummate tourists.
The boats for our thrilling ride on the St. Lawrence River are lined up at the docks.
We had our picture taken before we went out to get drenched.
There we are in the boat (red circle). On the way back we looked more like drowned rats.
Montreal skyline from across the St. Lawrence River.
A George Lucas inspired sculpture on the way to fireworks at La Ronde.
We didn't tour it, but the BioSphere looked like a fascinating place. Don't think I would want to live there.
Interesting... Roelina's expression doesn't seem to show the stark terror she is feeling.
Movie! Folks seemed to enjoy this wet ride.

Is that screaming we heard from the ground Roelina? Nah, she just quietly wimpered.
This movie is fun to watch. These folks were into getting wet.
One evening we watched the fireworks from this bridge. It is a popular (and free) viewing location.
This is the view from the bridge of Montreal at night.
Entry to the fabulous "Just for Laughs" festival.
Montrealers love festivals and this one was great fun.
These guys were on stilts and very odd looking. A little unnerving actually.
Don a few streamers, toss some confetti and your in the festival spirit.
Montreal does floats like few others we have seen. Here is a Charlie Chaplin float.
We didn't know who this was. Probably some popular French persona.
A few others you might recognize. Bob's Big Boy seemed a little out of place here.
Ok, I know we have a bazillion pictures of churches, but this one is in the village of St. Jerome.
Even the street art is unusual in Montreal. A green apple in the ear? Weird.
St. Joseph's Oratory was quite a sight. We got our climbing exercise in here.
The view from the upper reaches of the cathedral was wonderful.
Bill just hanging out at the top (catching his breath actually). We had beautiful weather.
St. Joseph's had a decidedly more modern feel than many churches we have visited.
Candles, candles everywhere.
The Crypt was another area of worship under the main chapel.
Susan and Roelina cruising through a local park. (Seems Susan thought it was the land of funny walks.)
We spent nearly a full day at the Botanical Gardens in Montreal.
A nice statue accented with flowers.
The park had many areas with flowers. This one had a view of the Olympic Stadium in the background.
A beautiful pond.
Somebody should tell this roadrunner it is way to hot and humid to being running around.

Orange lilly
In the Chinese garden this was the Tower of Condensing Clouds and the Stone Mountain.

We found this robin and her chicks tucked away in a corner in the Bonsai Garden.

A particularly brilliant water lilly.

This area was adjacent to the Japanese area of the Gardens.
They had some of the most colorful koi we have ever seen - and big. Very, very big.
We enjoyed the greenhouses. This one housed the plants that love humidity.
These orchids looked like Disney characters.
This one was a bit hairy.
These 'long chinned' orchids reminded us of Laurel and Hardy.
Some were bright.
Nature is truly interesting isn't it.
Notice the coy lizard on the tree.
This monkey was the focus of much attention, while it set it's sights on Susan's hat.
These bobcats were sleeping a moment before we appeared like food to them. Yikes!
