Garrison, MT
Riverside RV Park in Garrison was one of the few parks open in this part of Montana.
While winter storms pounded places east and south of us we were safe with only cold to endure.
The storms that missed us left a lot of snow on the mountains near Garrison.
Garrison businesses try to bring a tropical feel to an otherwise desolate place in the winter.
We decided to visit the Old Montana Prison. If Montana winters don't keep you from crime what would?
Cruel Commandant Susan poses a picture. Wait! Where is your prisoner?!!
Nothing hospitable about this place. Although Turkey Pete did stay here for 49 years.
Nice to see the prison had a sense of humor.
There was a nice car museum adjacent to the prison. Everything ranging from Model T's to muscle cars.
This is a 1934 DeSoto Airflow. They were capable of 22 MPG and cost about $995 to buy.
This part of the museum looked like a parking garage filled with all of the hottest muscle cars.
This VW dune buggy was interesting and the lion added a bit of realism. (not really).
We visited the little town of Philipsburg southwest of Garrison.
Hmmm... snipe hunting and skinny dipping seem to be popular in Philipsburg.
One of the most impressive structures in Philipsburg appeared to be the Town Jail.
This is a REAL prisoner. Thought these striped prison outfits were only used in cartoons. Oh the humiliation!
Georgetown Lake south of Philipsburg was a pretty sight.
On our way over to Helena we stopped at this lookout.
The Montana State Capital is a nice stately building
Like most state capitals Montana's was ornate inside.
Very nice.
Montanans are quite proud of the Charles Russell painting on the far wall.
Nice cathedral, but why was it closed on Sunday?!!
Helena is nothing if not eclectic with this minaret adorning its skyline.
