Mount Vernon, WA
Mt. Vernon RV Park was a very nice place to stay for our time in this area.
First order of business, take a trip through the San Juan Islands.
Many upscale homes dot the islands. These are near Friday Harbor.
Our ferry docked at Friday Harbor.
We explored American Camp NHP, site of the 1859 Pig War.
The only casualty was one pig. So we just walked around the area and enjoyed the views.
A nice view on our tour around the island.
Kayakers at Whale Watch Park.
The picturesque lighthouse at Lime Kiln Point.
Later we toured the island's sculpture gardens.
There were many unique sculptures including this dragonfly.
On the way back to Anacortes we were treated to a nice sunset.
Also, a snowcapped Mt. Baker rose in the distance.
This is the bridge at Deception Pass looking at it from the Straits of San Juan de Fuca.
Below the bridge there was one calm spot where folks apparently go diving.
This is a great view from the other side of the bridge.
Of course, we took a hike in the area.
Again, back at the bridge where you can really see the currents rushing in from the straits.
Couldn't resist this one last shot of the waning sunlight on the water at Deception Pass.
This is Mt. Shuksan reflected in Picture Lake. The lake is appropriately named don't you think?
Mountain views during our tour of the area around Mt. Baker.
Mt. Baker up-close and personal. What a beautiful sight.
The views from the area around the visitor center were inspiring. Susan's quite nice too.
We took a trip to Bellingham for the Farmer's Market and more.
The Farmer's Market was very popular with lots of interesting items.
Bellingham's marina was picture perfect on this georgeous day.
We enjoyed lunch at the marina with this panoramic view.
Later we hiked up, and up, and up through the Sehome Hill Arboretum (did I mention it was UP).
The views from the outlook at the top of the Arboretum were wonderful.
Later that day we drove down the very scenic Chuckanut Drive.
On another day we looked for a geocache at historic Fort Casey State Park.
Anacortes is a fun town with many fun places to eat and shop.
