Yuma, AZ
Here we are parked at Cocopah Golf RV Park. We found out this is the golf ball landing zone.
The lush agricultural fields around Cocopah were beautiful with the desert mtns. in the background.
This is clearly the Cocopah landmark.
This egret apparently is the resort mascot. He/she never left this pond.
People dressed up their golf carts to ride around the park, sing and generally make merry.
The Arizona Marketplace is a popular location for RV'ers looking for a bargain.
Vendors of all sorts sell their goods here. On the weekends it was pretty busy.
The Ocean-to-Ocean Highway crosses the Colorado River. It was the entry point for the grapes of wrathers.
At night the bridge lights up to tell of its heritage.
There is lots of boondocking in the desert in this area. The Teepee is a beta version RV.
The Picacho Peaks are just visible in the distance. We didn't drive the long, rough dirt road to get there.
This is Felicity, CA is the 'Center of the Universe' and preserves the history of mankind in granite.
Rows of granite blocks are carved with stories from creation to current times.
This arm in a rock points the way to the pyramid (just in case you need help I guess.)
This is just a small example of the many stories and pictures on the granite blocks.
The town founder saved this Eiffel Tower spiral staircase from destruction. Its purpose here? Who knows.
This kind of sums up the town founder's creed.
The border crossing to Los Algodones, Mexico is a short walk from a nearby parking lot.
Los Algodones has dentists, eye doctors, pharmacies and beer. Who could want more?
Speaking of beer, this is a local restaurant serving beer and authentic Americanized Mexican food.
We were told no visit to Yuma is truly complete without visiting the Peanut factory. We say don't bother.
Peanuts are no longer grown here, but they give a presentation on how it was in the old days.
This is the view from Yuma's Territorial Prison. Too bad the inmates couldn't enjoy it.
The guard tower is built on top of a water tank to reduce evaporation and loss of prisoners.
The museum is modest, but the stories of the lives of the inmates and guards are interesting to read.
This is a model mockup of how the prison appeared when it was in operation.
The main cell block looked suitably inhospitable.
This had to be uncomfortable in Yuma's hot summers.
