Wildwood - Silver Springs, FL - Nov. 17 - 21, 2009

On November 17th we left charming Charleston heading for Alliance RV Service in Wildwood, Florida, with an overnight stay at Pecan RV Park in Jacksonville along the way.  Those who have followed our travels since we left Arizona in April 2009 know we have been experiencing serious leaks in our bedroom slides.  Since April the leaks have progressed from minor to torrential, so we were happy our long awaited appointment was finally near.

On the 18th the technicians inspected the rig and determined the road-side slide was a relatively easy fix, but the curb-side slide was much more complex.  They needed to pull the entire slide out of the coach, which meant we needed to stay in a hotel for one night.   Since pulling a slide-out is very time consuming, the repairs turned out to be rather expensive.  Plus they had to replace some of the flooring due to rot caused by the leak.  However, we can report that we have not experienced any leaks since the repair.  Yaayy!

During our stay in Wildwood we toured the models at the Del Webb Stone Creek development west of Ocala.  It was a nice development, but we like the one in Florence, Arizona, in which our new home is located, much better.   We also window-shopped in several furniture stores and golf cart dealerships in the area.

On Friday evening we got our mobile mansion back and headed 40 miles northwest to Wilderness RV Park Estates in Silver Springs, on the edge of the Ocala National Forest.  Wilderness RV is a beautiful park that is evolving into a deeded resort.  We stayed in the newest area that offered very large, level, paved sites and its own community center and pool.   The park is located on the Oklawaha River that leads to Silver River, which is supposed to be a great kayak river leading to Silver Springs.  But, alas, since we didn't actually get our kayak out, this is all hearsay.

After two nights at Wilderness, in our pleasantly dry coach, we headed 75 miles east to Gamble Rogers State Recreation Area just south of Flagler Beach.
