Dickinson, ND
We had a nice camp spot at the North Park Campground.
About 2 weeks prior to our arrival, Dickinson was hit by an F3 tornado.
One of the big treats of our time here was the Enchanted Hwy. This is "Geese in Flight".
Nothing special here. We just thought the Enchanted Hwy looked like a ribbon stretching out from us.
This is "Deer Crossing". The buck is 75-feet tall and 60-feet long. It was erected in 2002
As you might expect, Bill enjoyed the "Fisherman's Dream" sculpture the most.
Whoa boy! That looks like one mighty big fish.
Or maybe is it normal sized and Bill is really little... Hmmm...
"Grasshopper's Delight" The grasshopper stands 40 ft. tall. It was erected in the summer of 1999.
"Pheasants on the Prairie". The sculptures are made of wire mesh that was originally used for screening gravel.
"Theodore Roosevelt Rides Again" A tribute to Pres. Roosevelt's part in North Dakota history
At Roosevelt's sculpture the green fields, red rock and clouds were just perfect.
"Tin Family". This was Artist Gary Greff's first sculpture erected in 1991.
This is the Benedictine Assumption Abbey in Richardton.
The Abbey's Chapel was impressive and peaceful.
Our next destination was Theodore Roosevelt Nat'l Park.
Much of the park has a "badlands" character to it. Very nice.
This is the Maltese Cross, Roosevelt's cabin when he first came to North Dakota as a rancher.
We visited the nearby town of Medora too. This is the theater. We didn't stick around for the show.
However, we did have lunch at the newly renovated Rough Rider Hotel. Pricey, but good.
