Lebanon, OR
We stayed for a month at Mallard Creek Golf and RV Resort. It was beautiful and fun.
A nice view from our campground of the surrounding area.
Bill ended up playing over 25 rounds of golf while here. He was tuning up his game for the golf course in Florence, AZ
Bill is seen here with our good friends (and fellow golfers) George and Claudia Bist.
While Bill played golf, Susan viisted the Albany Brass Ring Carousel Studio.
The carousel animals are commissioned by individuals and reflect personal experiences or loved ones.
Susan chatted with the volunteer artisans working on various aspects of the carousel.
It was interesting to see the artist's drawings and the 3-demensional characters in the making.
While Bill played golf Susan trekked up to beautiful Silver Falls State Park for a fabulous hike.
One of the falls on the 'Ten Falls Trail'. Notice the trail passes behind the falls.
Susan's hike was on a busy weekend. Since she was hiking alone, she welcomed the company.
One of the many cascades within the park.
While Bill golfed, Susan drove north to Washington. The is the Puyallup Airport with Mt. Ranier in the background.
Susan spent three days with her friend Sharon in Redmond, WA.
The is the recently opened, state-of-the-art Seattle Library - we were actually looking Z Galleria.
Sharon and Susan visited one of the many gardens in the Emerald City.
While Bill golfed, Susan visited several towns in the area, including Silverton.
Silverton is noted for its many high quality murals.
Just outside of Silverton are the beautiful Oregon Gardens.
The Gardens included many lovely sculptures and fountains, plus this bit of whimsy - a claypot family.
While Bill golfed, Susan also visited German village of St. Angel, best known for its annual Octoberfest.
On a hill overlooking the town and surrounding valley sits the graceful Benedictine St. Angel Abbey.
These beautiful silver bells can be heard in the valley below.
From her home port in Salem, one can take a river cruise on the Williamette Queen, an authentic sternwheeler.
Bill took a break from golfing and accompanied Susan to the Corvallis Art Festival.
While Bill golfed, Susan took a wonderful bike ride in the countryside north of Lebanon.
The ride took her past historic barns and several covered bridges.
Oregon has numerous covered bridges which protect the deck from the State's famous rains.
Another weathered, historic barn on the bike route.
It seemed appropriate to visit Brownsville, although Mr. Brown did not feel the same compulsion.
This is the lovely Calapooia River that runs through Brownsville.
The Benton County Courthouse, completed in 1888, is topped with a four-sided clock tower.
