Florence, AZ - Oct. 2010 to Apr. 2011
Poston Butte is our home golf course.  This is the signature 17th hole.
The golf course is named after nearby Poston Butte.  This is a monument at the top of the butte.
The first hike Susan took with the club was called First Water - and there was some.

Susan points out some Indian petroglyphs on one of her hikes with the club.
On our 30th anniversary we traveled to the northern Phoenix and the Scottsdale area.
The Arts District in downtown Scottsdale.
One of the highlights of our trip to north Phoenix was a balloon ride to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
Bill volunteered to help with airing up the balloon - and stayed warm.
We are up and away with a number of other balloons.
The pilot came very close to this mountain (on purpose) and skirted just over the tops of the cactus.
We had a nice view of the mountains in the area.
At the end of the ride the balloon company provided a champagne breakfast.

This fellow looked like an extra from a western movie.
The Hike to Canyon Lake via Black Canyon was one of Susan's favorites.
Black Canyon hike.
The Black Canyon desert landscapes is quite beautiful.
....and dramatic.
Ah, our destination is in site.  Canyon Lake and a well deserved lunch.
Hang loose, dude!
We visited the historic area of Gold Canyon, AZ.  We were here for a jeep ride excursion.
Gold Canyon is a interesting historic town.
This is our jeep tour vehicle.  Susan found it on Groupon.  It was a bit cheesy and not worth the money.
The tour took us to areas, while attractive, we could have easily accessed by our car.
Our farthest point on the tour was this area called Fish Creek Canyon.
On the way back we drove past Canyon Lake.
Another fabulous hike was up Peralta Canyon to the saddle overlooking Weaver's Needle.
A perfect view of Weaver's Needle.
We attended a Three Dog Night concert at Encanterra, a nearby, upscale golf community.

Susan and her sister Linda visited Boyce Thompson Arboretum.

Seven Falls hike in Sabino Canyon, Tucson.
The Hiking Club organized a horse ride and BBQ in the Superstition Mtn. area.
Off we go.  The horses know the trail pretty well, so not too much guiding was need by the riders.
The 2011 Usual Suspects adventure to Bodega Bay.
Our home had some very exotic flowers including this proteus.
Susan and Claire toured the Castello di Amorosa in the Napa Valley.
The Castello is boasts an armory and torture chamber with all the frightening implements.
Claire awaits our tour and the promised wine tasting at the end.
Roelina and Susan visited the Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
Roelina seems to be unclear on the concept of 'arid' desert.
After just a couple of dozen photos, Susan caught this hummingbird perfectly.
