Landscaping
The landscaping process begins. First they remove a perfectly good walkway and dig a trench.
This the gas line trench. Our neighbor is having this landscaper do their yard too.
The gas line runs out to where the firepit will be. You can see the outlines on the ground.
Blocks and cement arrive for the wall construction tomorrow.
The courtyard wall construction is underway.
Later in the day progress is clearly being made.
After the workers leave the courtyard wall is looking good.
The firepit work has started too.
The next day work on the curved seating area adjacent to the firepit begins.
Up it goes.
While they look a bit lonely, the curved seating area and firepit are now built.
Meanwhile, along the garage side of the house a garbage container area is being built.
Bright and early the next day work begins on laying pavers... 20 pallets worth!!
First they lay them in the basic patterns and later shape the edges.
Along the left side of this picture you can see the curved edge cut into the paver bricks.
Pavers leading to the garbage bin area.
Pavers form the back patio.
Standing a little farther away gives you a feel for the full backyard view.
A nice curved walkway down the street side of the house.
A closer look at the seating area/firepit with pavers moving toward them.
After the workers leave you now can see the nice curves to the pavers.
A look down the garage side.
And a look down the street side. Nice.
The planting begins on Monday, April 26th.
A few more of the plants. I hear more are going to arrive.
Small palms go into the courtyard. The square open area will be the future home of a bubbling fountain.
Trees go into the backyard. They include a Palo Verde, Olive, and Myers Lemon along with a few palms.
Boulders are placed and mounds are starting to form in the area in front of the courtyard wall.
Planting day. Our landscaper promised a wide variety of plants and he wasn't joking!
The plants are in and looking good. Now we just need some crushed rock to finish it off.
Here is the rock. The workers who must move this rock do it day in and day out. Tough guys.
When they are done spreading the crushed rock into place it looks great.
A look down the street side.
Again the street side, but in the back yard. The tree is called a Desert Museum Palo Verde.
The plants in the backyard.
Another look at the landscaping in back. Drip irrigation and accent lighting are all in place.
The fountain finally arrived. Our landscaper sent us a few pictures of the finished product.
A closer view of this uniquely shaped fountain.
We also arranged for sealing of the rock facing and pavers.
We opted for a sealant that provides a slight sheen to the pavers.
